The Story
"Invincible" takes place nowIt's the story of four people - together representing the elements of Fire, Air, Water and Metal - who were destined before birth to fight against the army of Shadowmen to save the world.
It's the story of Os, their teacher, formerly an evil Shadowman. Shadowmen are an army of dark angels. His job was to track down the five people, representing the elements of Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Metal and kill them as they would be able to defeat the Shadowmen. He had just killed Earth when the White Warrior appeared and defeated him. She bathed him in light and filled his heart with love, and since then, Os is not evil anymore, but is now trying to save the world. He collects the four people representing the elements and trains them so they can defeat the Shadowmen.
A tablet with arcane writings on it is found. A businessman aquires it and while admiring it, he is attacked by a group of Shadowmen and their leader Slate robs him of the tablet. Os appears and fights him for it. The tablet breaks and they each get half. Os tells the Elements that if the tablets are joined again and in the hands of Slate, it will mean the end of the world in six days.
Slate kidnaps a language expert and forces him to translate the tablet.
Meanwhile Os trains the Elements, but Slate tries to defeat them, both psycologically and physically. He tempts each of them in dreams with what he wants the most and Water succumbs to having his sister being alive again. He then chokes to death, but Os and the other Elements manage to revive him,
There is a showdown where the Elements defeat the Shadowmen and Os defeats Slate - fighting him with love (though I have a hard time seeing the difference from fighting with love to just beating on Slate ;-)). The earth is saved, Os vanishes, Slate turns good and the Elements have to take care of him.
The Four Elements :
Are all troubled in different ways and have reached dead ends - and they all share an identical birthmark.Fire - the Soldier
Was renamed Ray Jackson by Os. He was a rich man's son who sacrificed everything to defend his country.
Unfortunately, even though he wanted to serve his country, his temper made him some enemies, and he was discharged from the army and pursued by a vengeful officer.
Air - the Cop
Was renamed Serena Blue. She was an honest police detective who ran afoul of corruption within her own department. They have threatend that she will be dead within 24 hours.
Water - The Bodyguard
Renamed Michael Fu by Os - and King Fu by Grady.
He was a cop in Hong Kong, but moved to the US to become a Federal Agent. He worked for the Witness Protection Service where he protected witnesses on their way to testify. But guarding criminals willing to rat on their colleagues has disillusioned him.
Metal - the Thief
Keith Grady is his new name. He grew up in an orphanage, and to help them economically, he began to steal.
The Shadowmen :
Os - the good shadowman
He used to be the baddest of the bad and enjoy killing.
Slate - leader of the army of Shadowmen
Used to be Os' best friend. Now they are on opposing sides in the struggle to save the world.
