From The Globe and Mail , January 6th, 2007:
"The executives at CBC Television are so pleased with the miniseries they have already told the producers at Omni Film to go ahead with Dragon Boys II, a movie, and are now touting it as a "prime example" of their network's new programming strategy to reach untapped audiences and rake in higher ratings."
Part two would revisit the characters after 3 years have passed.

CBC News Release about Dragon Boys
It reveals the story-line and lists many of the actors:
Steph Song, Tzi Ma, Lawrence Chou, Eric Tsang, Christina Ma, Simon Wong, Darryl Quon, Derek Tsang and Gord S. Kwan.
"The two-part, four-hour mini-series will be broadcast on the CBC on March 12 and 13, 2006."

Byron Mann just finished THE SHANGHAI KID, with Kelly Hu in Shanghai, China - it's a romantic comedy.

The fall major miniseries is called DRAGON BOYS. It is a multi-faceted drama about the triads in Vancouver, Canada.

Dragon Boys is on one level a high-octane thriller, and on another a rich tapestry of contemporary Canadian life. Four stories weave together over this four hour mini series. Based on meticulous research, it follows a Chinese-Canadian police detective and an immigrant family as they confront a deadly threat from Asian organized crime.

Byron Mann's episode of Les Mythes Urbains is now available on DVD from Amazon.fr - the episode is on vol II. The episodes are like vignettes, 15 minutes long. It stars Omar Sharif as the narrator of all these Urban Myths.

2005-07-19:

This is hot off the press: Byron Mann is now in final negotiations to topline a major four-hour miniseries for CBC/Telefilm. It will be their largest production for 2006. Filming will begin this fall. This production will be like TRAFFIC, gritty, dark, and thrilling.
Byron Mann is no longer attached to The Red Album.

Unfortunately the Chang Family pilot wasn't picked up, but that doesn't mean Byron Mann isn't busy. He recently completed Belly of the Beast, and this fall, he'll start filming Red Album in Toronto.

ABC: Untitled John Ridley Drama Project - The Chang Family saves the world ?
Centers on a family in which the parents are Wutan Temple Warriors but keep that a secret from their kids, with Lauren Tom, Byron Mann, Dante Basco, and Rona Figueroa.
Status: Pilot order.
Studio: Touchstone production team.

Time will tell if the pilot is made - and made into a series.
